MICHIGAN ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CASE WORKER

Case Worker Responsibilities Include:

  • Correspond with clients regarding self-sufficiency services including home energy conservation and budgeting.
  • Develop self-sufficiency plans for low-income clients during a household interview
  • Enroll eligible clients in signing up for an affordable payment plan
  • Assist clients in the process of submitting an application using the MI Bridges portal
  • Work with project partners to ensure clients are assisted in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Work with energy providers to prevent disconnection or to get the client re-connected
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in education or social work a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of home energy efficiency
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively so others will understand
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally and in writing
  • Ability to get along with people of all ages and backgrounds and gain their trust
  • Tact, patience and understanding
  • Ability to cope with challenging situations and clients
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently

Additional Requirements:

  • This grant requires an acceptable background check through Michigan’s ICHAT and DHS E-Verify
  • Must be able to sit at a computer desk up to 2 hours at a time
  • Must be able to stand during teachings for up to 2 hours at a time
  • Must be able to frequently get up to retrieve printed information and to prepare mailings
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds

This position is supervised by the MEAP Program Manager

This position is part time, non-exempt, hourly

Intake Assistant Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Highly proficient computer skills, including spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently
