Governor Snyder meets with Great Lakes Conservation Corps Members!
Great Lakes Conservation Corps (GLCC) members Emily Goodman and Hunter King met with Governor Rick Snyder at a recent ceremony at the mouth of the Two Hearted River commemorating the ten year anniversary of the Northern Great Lakes Forest Project which protected over 248,000 acres across the Upper Peninsula. The Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP) developed the Watershed Management Plan (2008) for the Two Hearted system and since then has collaborated with The Nature Conservancy and other partners on implementing a number of conservation projects to improve water quality and aquatic habitat. Now, the GLCC is building new sections of hiking trail throughout the Upper Peninsula to further Governor Snyder’s goal of completing the state-wide Iron Belle recreation trail!
